Ludovic Orban: I convened this meeting to make a very serious analysis of the current state of election preparedness, under all aspects, both in Romania and especially abroad. There are a few things that I want from you - the current state of preparedness and I want to know especially what measures we can take in case such incidents that need remedy occur. I also know that this meeting takes place when we only have a couple of days left until the election, but I called it as soon as I could after the investiture of the new Cabinet and the adoption of the Ordinance regarding the functioning of the Government. I want to know how we stand with the organization of the polling stations, and also with the appointment of presidents and their substitutes, both in the country and abroad. I greet you, Mr Deputy Director of the Special Telecommunications Service.

I want to know also what measures were taken to promote the election abroad so that the Romanian citizens be well informed that they can vote on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, to avoid polling stations getting crowded on Sunday.

People tend to go to vote on Sunday and that's why we need to make a strong campaign to inform them that they can vote on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Obviously, I am interested to know from the Ministry of Interior about the security preparedness around the polling stations too, if there is enough personnel to ensure the guard of the polling stations, if the activities to secure the transport of minutes from the polling stations to the County Electoral Bureaus and the Central Electoral Bureau afterwards, after centralization, are prepared. I noticed that prefects are getting ill, Minister. Is it a virus, did an epidemic occur?

Marcel Ion Vela: There are two prefects and a deputy prefect in this situation.

Ludovic Orban: I understand. Search solutions, substitutes to exercise the prefect’s duties in such situations. I will ask the media to allow us to conduct this analysis, we will be available for questions once the meeting finishes.
